Investing in livestock is one of the oldest forms of wealth preservation.
In France, this practice dates back to the 12th century. MyMarguerit offers a modern, regulated and performance-driven version of this heritage: a structured way for today’s investors to support the farmers who feed us, while building long-term wealth in real assets.
1970 – An innovation born in the fields
The idea emerged on a 825-hectare farm in Isère: using private savings to finance the herd, in order to produce and sell milk under better conditions. The “bail à cheptel” (livestock lease), written into the French Civil Code since 1804, became a practical financing tool for farmers.
1972 — Creation of Gestel
From this initiative came Gestel, the first dedicated livestock management company in Europe. A pioneering model was put in place: investors finance the acquisition of cattle, which are then entrusted to farmers. Farmers care for the animals, use them in their operations and pay a lease in return.
1980 – A structured, long-term model
Gestel took on a dual role: technical manager of the herds and financial intermediary between farmers and investors. This created a robust model built on trust, operational expertise and full traceability.
1990 – Separation of activities: birth of Élevage & Patrimoine
At the request of the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF), Gestel became the technical management company, while Élevage & Patrimoine was created as the entity in charge of marketing the investment to private and professional investors.
2021 — AMF Registration
The product was formally registered with the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) under number D-21-01, marking a new milestone in regulatory robustness and investor protection.
2023 – Launch of the MyMarguerit brand
The MyMarguerit brand brings together the offer for both investors and farmers under a single name. It reflects a clear model: directly channelling savings into French agriculture, with the dual objective of delivering sustainable performance and real economic impact.
A structured model: technical management and distribution
Gestel, our technical management company, selects and monitors projects, supports farmers and manages the entire life cycle of the animals.
Élevage & Patrimoine, the commercial entity behind the MyMarguerit brand, structures and distributes the investment solution and supports investors throughout their subscription and life-cycle.
Risks are framed through mutualised herds, insured livestock and rigorous operational oversight. Governance is designed to align the interests of farmers, investors and the management company.
A regulated investment framework
As the only investment of its kind registered with the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) under number D-21-01, MyMarguerit is subject to strict requirements in terms of governance, disclosure and investor information.
This regulatory framework is particularly important for wealth managers, private banks and family offices seeking robust, well-governed real-asset solutions in Europe.
